song-writer, voice, guitar, piano
A few summers ago, Samantha de Siena, described as "a subtle mixture between the most transparent of Beth Gibbons and the most disconcerting of Cat Power” (Butxaca) and likened to “Joanna Newsom’s dreamlike folk” (Time Out), set sail for Barcelona, to follow her dreams of singing and writing music. It was there, amidst the magic of Barcelona’s old town, that this singer-songwriter from London wrote her debut album.
Since releasing her album, Samantha has received glowing reviews from many of Barcelona's most popular newspapers and magazines including Mondo Sonoro, El Periódico, Time Out, Butxaca, Lamono and RockZone and has been invited to play live and be interviewed on Spain's national radio station, Radio 3, as well as COMRàdio and Catalunya Ràdio. Radio 3, described her album as “literally extraordinary, an absolute joy for open ears and anxious souls.”
With her “beautifully unique voice” (El Periódico), Samantha combines blues, folk, jazz and punk into songs both epic and delicate, painting an evocative picture of the human dilemma and inspiring us towards our greatest potential.
